■ On August 3rd, 2004 the STFZ steering committee met in Pobylkowo near Warsaw.

We've been continuing discussion on the future of our association, discussion which begun on previous STFZ meeting in July 2004 in Krakow. We have developed many new concepts. One of them is to create the informative bulletin - newsletter, informing interested readers on our plans and activities.

■ The VIIIth Festival of Science "Warszawa 2004" organized under auspices of the Conference of Rectors of Warsaw` Academic Schools and the Polish Academy of Science took place in Warsaw, August 17th - August 26th 2004. The Festival consisted of many events, lectures, and meetings. One of them was the meeting on the history of old jewellery, goldsmithing and metalsmithing objects titled "Treasures of our homes - silent music of things ".

On August 20th, 2004 we have meet in the conference room of the Polish weekly magazine "Polityka", Warsaw, Slupecka street nr. 6. The admission was free; guests brought with them different small objects made of metal, like: pieces of jewellery, plaquettes, vessels, etc., which are somehow important for them. During this meeting we were trying to find out the date/time when the object was made, and to determine the place of it's origin, using knowledge of history of metalsmithing and goldsmithing on styles and on history of workshop. This meeting has also served as presentation of the group of students of the course on history of old goldsmithing, run by the STFZ member, Jacek A. Rochacki at the Institute of History of Art, University of Warsaw, in the academic year 2003/2004.

■ The conservation studio of the district museum in the city of Lublin (South East Poland) has accomplished the task of conservation of the unique piece of old church silver - the XVIIIth century monstrance belonging to the Cathedral Church of Lublin. This monstrance is a piece of special historical value, because it is adorned by it's makers with genuine, old jewellery, most probably donated as votive gifts to the church at the time of this monstrance's creation. The almost two hundred years of recent history of Poland is the history of destruction and wars, thus almost no old jewellery survived. The more we cherish every single old genuine piece surviving until our times.

■ The recent edition of the jewellery and watches fairs "Zloto-Srebro-Czas 2004" - "Gold-Silver-Time 2004" took place since 1st until 3rd October 2004 in Warsaw. As usual our artists goldsmiths were presenting their works at the special area named "The Designer`s Gallery". Many of Polish jewellery artists work single handed, some run small workshops employing few employees. Our works are offered in many domestic and foreign galleries, shops and boutiques sometime are offered via artistic jewellery dealers.

Meetings at the "Designer's Gallery" take place in Poland three times per year: in March at the "Amberif" fairs in Gdansk [ >>>> ], in August at the "Ambermart" fairs (also organized in Gdansk) [ >>>> ] and on the beginning of October at the "Zloto-Srebro-Czas" - "Gold-Silver-Time" fairs in Warsaw. [ >>>> ].

■ Visitors to the "Z這to-Srebro-Czas 2004" - "Gold-Silver-Time 2004" fairs, 1-3 October 2004 were given a chance of viewing the exhibition "Przyjecie Urodzinowe" - "Birthday Party", originally organized as part of the annual goldsmithing Legnica`s event opened in May 2004 in the State Gallery of Art of the Legnica town (South West Poland), as part of 25th Legnica`s Festival of Silver [ catalogue ].

This important exhibition is a kind of summary of long time activity of the Legnica' exhibiting center. As we said by another occasion, many prominent jewellery artists from all over the world have been exhibiting there, some of them for the first time in Poland.

We are sorry that this so important exhibition was not properly advertised in mass media. We hope that there will be another occasion soon to present these works to Polish audience at better-arranged and advertised event.

■ On October 2nd, 2004, during the "Z這to-Srebro-Czas 2004" - "Gold-Silver-Time 2004" fairs in Warsaw there's been also the opening of the exhibition "Prezentacje 2004" - "Presentation 2004", and announcement of results of competition under the same title. List of winners, complete list of authors, images of works are to be seen at: - >>>>

The exhibition was arranged by Tomasz Sikora, who`s artistic photography was shown years before by the occasion of the first one man exhibition of artistic jewellery by Joachim "Zanek" Sokolski at the beginning of seventies at the Repassage gallery in Warsaw.

■ New approach to exhibiting artistic jewellery was introduced and developed by the cycle of exhibitions "Camelot 111x" at the Camelot gallery in Krakow.
